450SX Class Recap: St. Louis
Eli Tomac (1-1-1) scored his 52nd 450SX Class victory, 20 behind Jeremy McGrath for the all-time 450SX Class record. Tomac now has 10 seasons with a 450SX Class win, joining James Stewart and Chad Reed as the only riders to accomplish this feat. Stewart and Tomac are the only two with 10 consecutive seasons with a 450SX Class win.
Tomac’s 1-1-1 nailed his first Triple Crown sweep, eighth Triple Crown overall, and 13th -15th Triple Crown race wins. The podium was his 100th 450SX Class podium and 216th AMA podium, the ladder breaking Ricky Carmichael’s previous AMA record 215 podiums (217-216 including non-points paying Las Vegas East/West Shoot-outs). He also made a milestone 175th 450SX Class start to top off his big day.
Cooper Webb (5-6-2) rocketed to his 60th 450SX Class podium and within single digits of the red plate with an up-and-down runner-up overall in St. Louis. He will look to make his 80th 450SX Class start in Foxborough. He was making his 235th AMA start and now has 104 AMA podiums (44%).
Notes: Hunter Lawrence (3rd, 8-2-4) Scored his first 450SX Class podium;Aaron Plessinger (4th, 3-8-6) Seventh top five of the season after only 11 in his 450SX Class career before 2024; Justin Barcia (6th, 6-4-10) 160th 450SX Class start and 121st top 10 is good for 12th all-time in both categories; Adam Cianciarulo (22-22-22) Made his 40th 450SX Class start before DNF. Announced retirement later the following week.
450SX Class: Foxborough Historical Facts
History Lesson: The first 450SX Class round held in Foxborough was on July 24, 1983 at Schaefer Stadium. Suzuki’s Mark Barnett waltzed into the penultimate Supercross with an 11-point lead on Honda’s David Bailey in the standings. Barnett’s transmission failed in his semi-qualifier disallowing him to compete in the LCQ per antiquated rules. Bailey scored the victory and with it a 10-point lead in the Championship. It was just enough room to win the title in the finale with Barnett coming only two points short in the final tally.
Schaefer Stadium: Schaefer Stadium also hosted Supercross in 1984 and 1990. David Bailey repeated in 1984 and Honda made it 3/3 in Foxborough thanks to JM Bayle in 1990. Supercross did not return to Schaefer Stadium before it was demolished and replaced by Gillette Stadium.
The Best a Man Can Get: Supercross returned to Foxborough after 25 years away by visiting Gillette Stadium in 2016. Ken Roczen and his Suzuki scored the late-season win, but Ryan Dungey won the Championship. Marvin Musquin won Gillette in 2018 during a Championship comeback attempt that fell short to Jason Anderson. Anderson won the most recent visit to Gillette in 2022, during his own Championship comeback that Tomac would eventually win.
Championship Percentage: 1983 is the only time the winner of Foxborough won the 450SX Class Championship. 1/3 in Schaefer Stadium and 0/3 in Gillette Stadium for 1/6 overall. 2024 will mark the seventh time the 450SX Class has visited Foxborough and fourth in Gillette Stadium.

Levi Kitchen (1-1-1) used a perfect score to nail his fourth career 250SX Class win, third in four rounds, and second consecutive to extend his Western Regional points lead. His third 250SX Class Triple Crown overall is tied with Austin Forkner for the most all-time. It was the second sweep for both classes and first time both classes had sweeps in the same Triple Crown round.
Jo Shimoda (2-3-3) landed his first runner-up finish of the season and third podium in a row. He has eight podiums, 25 top-fives, and 35 top-10s in 38 250SX Class starts.
Jordon Smith (3-2-4) clinched his 23rd 250SX Class podium with a third overall in St. Louis. He is now tied with Jett Lawrence, Zach Osborne, Christian Craig, and McGrath for fifth on the all-time 250SX Class podiums list. He is only one podium from tying Martin Davalos and Stephane Roncada for third on the list. Smith’s 65th 250SX Class start ties him with Osborne and David Pingree for 15th on the all-time 250SX Class starts list.
Notes: RJ Hampshire (4th, 4-4-2) Closest competitor to Kitchen in the standings -15 going into the two-week Western Regional break. Scored 35th career 250SX Class top-five finish, passing Brock Sellards for seventh all-time. Nate Thrasher (5th, 5-5-6) made his 50th career AMA start and scored his 14th 250SX Class top-five finish. Garrett Marchbanks (6th, 9-6-5) made his 90th career AMA start and scored his 54th AMA top-10 (60%).
Eastern Regional Refresher
Cameron McAdoo (1-2-3) scored his third career 250SX Class win, and his second of the Triple Crown variety. McAdoo held the red plate during the Eastern Regional hiatus. His third win tied him with a large group of athletes for 69th on the 250SX Class wins list. He scored his 50th career AMA top-10 finish and is looking for his 85th AMA start in Foxborough.
Tom Vialle (4-3-1) lost the red plate but put in a solid runner-up ride including winning the final race of the Triple Crown. He will only be behind McAdoo by two points in Foxborough. He was making his 15th 250SX Class start and scored his fourth podium, all four of which have been in a row. He will be making his 30th AMA start in Foxborough, and he has accumulated three wins, seven podiums, 13 top-fives, and 21 top-10s in his first 29.
Haiden Deegan (2-1-6) had the Triple Crown lead going into the final race, but another first-turn knock-out put him on the comeback trail. He was able to secure a podium with some clutch passes late in the race, but he went into the break with a double-digit points deficit (-16). Deegan has five 250SX Class podiums in his first 15 starts.
Notes: Pierce Brown (4th; 12-4-2) Continued his consistency with another top-five finish. He has 5-5-5-4-4 finishes on the season which places him only 11 points off the red plate. Coty Schock (5th; 5-8-8) Overcame a broken collarbone in one week to nail his second-best 250SX Class finish. Schock has a puncher’s chance at the title being down -19. Nicholas Romano (6th; 8-10-5) Rookie scored his first top-10 finish in his fourth career start. Jeremy Martin (7th; 7-9-7) Moved into 18th in all-time 250SX Class starts (62).
250SX Class: Foxborough Historical Facts
History Lesson: The first 250SX Class race held in Foxborough was on June 2, 1990 in Schaefer Stadium. Denny Stephenson won his eighth race of the season to clinch the Eastern Regional Championship. It was the only 250SX Class race held in Schaefer Stadium.
Venue History: Schaefer Stadium’s 1983-1984 rounds pre-dated the 250SX Class, so the venue history is different than the 450SX Class. Gillette Stadium does have the same history for both classes, with rounds in ’16, ’18, and ’22. Jett Lawrence clinched the 2022 250SX Class Eastern Regional title in Gillette Stadium just like Stephenson did in Schaefer Stadium in 1990.
Only Three Left: Of the athletes in the 2022 Foxborough 250SX Class Main Event, only Pierce Brown (4th), Marshal Weltin (11th), and Hardy Munoz (22nd) are active Eastern Regional competitors lining up in the 2024 edition of Gillette Stadium 250SX Class racing.
